COVID-19

A face to Face Appointment Guide.

As a consequence of COVID-19 there will be a number of changes at Specialised Physiotherapy.

  1. Virtual First

We recommend that as much of your care is done virtually as possible,  this may be via telephone, video call, personalised secure questionnaires and emails.  This is in line with recommendations from our governing body – the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.  If you have agreed with your physiotherapist that there is a clinical need for you to have a face to face consultation these sessions will be kept as short as possible to mitigate the risk.

We have put specific measures in place to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 but there is no way to completely eliminate this risk.   If you are considering coming for a face-to-face consultation, it is essential that you read and comply with  following information.  We will aim to keep face to face appointments as short as is possible whilst ensuring  that we achieve the agreed outcomes for your treatment. This will reduce the risk of the  transmission of COVID-19, allowing for a deep clean in between patients.

Clinic capacity and cleaning:

  • Appointments will be spaced out to allow time for the physiotherapist to change personal protective equipment (PPE) and to clean between appointments.

  • Gym equipment and towels will not be used.

  • Disposable single use paper towel and  wipe clean pillows cases will be used.

  • The toilet will be open and thoroughly cleaned using chlor-clean.

PPE:

  • Your physiotherapist will be wearing PPE in compliance with current government guidance.

  • This will include

    • Non-latex gloves (single use)

    • Apron (single use)

    • Surgical fluid resistant face mask (sessional use)

    • Eye protection glasses (when necessary)

What you need to do before your appointment:

  • Please ensure you have completed the COVID-19 screening questionnaire and consent form which will be sent to you by email and must be completed and returned prior to your appointment.

  • You should attend your appointment alone. If you require a carer or guardian please let us know – If you need to attend with someone this must be pre planned and risk assessed during your virtual appointment before the face to face appointment.  They must also read this information.

  • Payment to be made by bank transfer or on line prior to appointment.

  • You must wear a face covering on entry to the clinic and it must remain on throughout your appointment. If you do not have a face covering, please follow the government guidelines on making your own face covering here:  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering

  • Please ensure you arrive on time,  if you are early please wait in the David Lloyd café.

  • Please wash and sanitise your hands on entering the clinic.

  • Your temperature may be taken on entry.

Information about during your appointment.

  • Please follow social distancing where possible whilst inside the clinic and maintain a social  distance from your physiotherapist during the parts of your appointment that you are able to.

  • The doors to the clinic and treatment room will be left open for ventilation except when it is necessary to protect your privacy and with your consent.  This will not be the case during intimate examinations or when discussing anything intimate or confidential.
